Porche

I first noticed her as she was chasing a boy through this homeless community that lives at the Civics Center. We were handing out waters and Spanish Bibles, making conversation, and bringing hope. We weaved are way through the little pockets of homeless people scattered on the grass and next to buildings. I can picture the aroma of Christ every where we walk almost as if a large ribbon were following us every where we go caught up in the wind. We made are way across the street close to the Library where there is a gazebo. A family with 5 children live there. Its dinner time. A local church had made and brought hot dogs and chips for the homeless this evening. As we were talking to this family Porche who also is staying in the gazebo came over to us. Porche loves Jesus. Porche is an older Jamaican woman. Her accent is awesome! She showed us her Bible. It was well worn in and you could tell she likes to read it a lot. We asked if we could pray for her and she liked that idea. She walked us over to her side of the gazebo where her meager possessions were. Her blankets were laid out on the concrete floor and she had a few bags on the built in bench. We laid hands on her and the Holy Spirit spoke with clarity. She was so encouraged. There was so much faith in our little circle. I asked her if she had any physical pain and she showed us the areas. We laid hands on her again with great expectation that God would heal her. As we prayed you could see her expression changing. She was getting excited. We stopped and asked her how she was feeling and she said that there was less pain. So we prayed for more healing believing that God would do a complete work. We prayed and He did just that.. Full healing! She was shocked, but so excited!! Her faith had made her well. She told us that while we were praying, that she felt what was like electric popping behind her ear and the back of her skull where there had been pain. She was sitting there pain free. We prayed that she would have boldness to share what God had done, and chatted with her about the Bible and some of her favorite passages. God Bless Porche! Hope to see her again next week.
